SANTA CLAUS HISTORY AND IMPORTANCE

At the time of Christmas festival celebration, children are very eager to receive chocolates and number of gifts. The one to make children happy by giving all this gifts is none other than Santa Claus who is known as the Father of Christmas. Santa Claus has many names such as Sinterklass, Saint Basil, and Father Frost etc.

The history of Santa Claus is very magical. There was a Saint named Saint Nicholas in Netherlands who was born in Parara. He was a Bishop of Myra. He served in a church. His dressing was very children friendly as he wore red color the most and he was generally seen in Bishop’s outfit. His look consisted of the following things:

            Elderly Look
            White Hair
White full Beard along with mouthstache
             Red Cap
            Red Stola
            Red Mitre
            Gold Crosier

He was very well known for the care he had for children. He used to distribute gifts to children on the basis of their behavior. Saint Nicholas wrote about the good and naughty behavior of all the children. At the end of the year he checks about the behavior of all children and the children, whose behavior went good during the year, were given the gift by Saint Nicholas on the days prior to Christmas. It is believed that Saint Nicholas used to come on a white horse. It was also believed that there are elves at Santa Claus’s home, which help him in preparing gifts for good children.

The traditions at the time of Saint Nicholas are changed in the modern times. The people dress themselves in the costume of Santa Claus and distribute chocolates, gifts and other goodies to children on the day of Christmas. The day of Christmas is celebrated on 25th December every year and is a holiday in most of countries. The modern look of a Santa Claus is inspired by the Sundblom who modeled as a Cartoon character for the Coca Cola Company in the year 1931. The modern look consists of the following attire:

            White Bread and Mouthstache
A Red Coat with white cuffs and collars
            Red Pant with white Cuffs
            Black Leather Belt and Boots
A Bag of Gifts and Chocolates

There are celebrations at schools which deliver the reason behind the Christmas Festival and how the Santa Claus gifts children on the happy occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ. Now a day’s many business units also keep Santa Claus at their business place for promotional purpose which attracts customers and especially kids. So be a good child this and every Christmas season and there will always be a Santa Claus to gift you lot of beautiful gifts and goodies.
